• Alyth Halls Committee takes care of the Town Hall and Ogilvie Rooms in Alyth, under a constitution and management agreement with Perth & Kinross Council.

The Committee is responsible for bookings, general caretaking and management and promotion of these public halls.

The Committee was formed in 1996 as the natural progression from Alyth Halls Association which took over from council regionalisation in 1975.

The people of Alyth began the commendable task of raising interest and money to build a "handsome town hall" in 1884, and succeeded admirably at a 'Grand Opening' in 1887.

The Town Hall bell has enjoyed celebrity status over the years having been 'acquired' from one of Napoleon's ships!

The Ogilvie Rooms' history stretches much further back in the 1800s when its life began as the YMCA hall. In 1871 The Late Hon. William Ogilvy of Loyal House bequeathed his entire library of 1500 volumes to start up a public resource for local people.

A winding path ensued to find a suitable building, including an integral room in the proposed town hall, but finally the YMCA became the library, and ultimately a public hall.
